How to choose how long history is kept
By default, ClipBook keeps your clipboard history forever. You can choose how long to keep each type of content, and ClipBook removes older items automatically. For example, you can keep texts for a year and images for a week.
Set how long to keep each type of content
- Go to Settings → Storage.
- In Keep history, drag the slider of a content type to choose a period from 1 day to 1 year, or Unlimited.
You can set a separate period for each of these types:
- Texts
- Rich Texts
- Images
- Files & Folders
- Links
- Emails
- Colors
ClipBook removes items older than their period when it starts, after you copy something, and every hour. The age of an item is counted from the last time you copied it.
Keep favorites and tagged items
If Always keep favorites and tagged items is enabled in Settings → Storage, your favorites and tagged items are never removed automatically. This option is enabled by default.
Shorten a period
If you shorten a period and your history already has older items of this type, ClipBook asks you to confirm:
- Click Delete to delete the older items and apply the new period.
- Click Cancel to keep the items and the previous period.
Items removed this way, including the ones removed automatically, are deleted for good. They don’t go to the Trash.
To stop saving a type of content at all, move its slider to Never. See How to stop saving a type of content.
This feature is available in ClipBook 2.1.4 and later. The separate period for rich texts is available in ClipBook 2.2.1 and later.
