How to preview SVG code as an image

When you copy SVG code from a design tool, a code editor or a website, ClipBook shows it as a picture. You can see what the icon or illustration looks like without opening it in another app.

In the history list, the item shows a thumbnail of the picture instead of the type icon. In the preview, you see the picture itself.

The item is still text. ClipBook pastes, searches and filters it as the SVG code you copied, and the Text filter includes it.

Switch between the picture and the code

  1. Select the item and press Space to open the preview dialog.
  2. In the toolbar, click Text to see the SVG code, or Image to see the picture.

ClipBook keeps your choice for other SVG items until you close the preview dialog.

Pictures that blend into the background

Some pictures are hard to see against the background, for example, a white icon in light mode. ClipBook shows such pictures on a background of the opposite brightness.

When SVG code is shown as text

ClipBook shows SVG code as text in these cases:

  • The code can’t be drawn as a picture.
  • The code is larger than 512 KB.
  • The SVG is a part of a larger document, such as an HTML page.

This feature is available in ClipBook 2.3.2 and later.
